Celebrity hairstyle : Styling products

You've got a bathroom full of products, but are you really making the most of them? these tips will ensure you use all your lotions and potions to the best of their abillity, as well as providing a few hints on how to get more from your favourites.

WAX: When use waxing, you can be much more ferr with drying - blast from all angles for movement. Rub wax between your fingers to heat and spread evenly trough the hair - don't put it on the roots, as this will flatten your style.

TEXTURISER: Texturisers are great for creating or manipulating movement, but overloading product onto one section causes greasiness. Dispense onto yourr hand, then use your fingers to apply evenly trough the hair.

CURL DEFINERS: For a soft, defined curl, a curl creme is ideal as it's not too heavy - apply to towel-dried hair. If your hair is lacking moisture, try a curl activator - use sparingly trough as too much can turn definition into wet - look.

GEL: Gel is perfect for styles that require intense sculpting with maximum sheen. New formulations are great for maintaining hold without flaking and are easy to wash out. Use a litle and build up to create textured looks.

SERUM: Serum can be used to control frizz or enhance shine but don't use too much as it can look greasy. For more effective results, combine with other products from the same range as they designed to work together.

POMADE: Warm a thumbnail amount of pomade in the palm of your hand until it softnes, breaking down the fibres to help work it through evenly. Reapply if more is needed, still using thumbnail amounts.

HEAT PROTECTION SPRAY: Use heat protetion spray on wet hair to guard against heat from the hairdryer, as well as on dry hair before using irons or tongs. Also try using it like a serum to smooth flyaway strands the next day.

SHINE SPRAY: Shine sprays work by delivering reflective particles to your hair to pick out natural gloss. Hold the can 16 inches away from your head and mist lightly. Don't get carried away though, as some sprays contain an oily delivery fluid which can make hair greasy.

HAIRSPRAY: To maximize volume, apply hairspray to dry hairr wilst with a dryer. This combined effect will dry the hairspray on your tresses instantly whilst it is still full of body from being blow-dryed.

MOUSSE: To make the most of mousse, dispense a golf ball-sized portion onto towel-dried hair. Apply from the midlengths to the ends firs, then work the rest through the roots using a wide tooth comb for even distribution.
